Stefan raised a good idea today. We should make/wear shirts that say, "Bitch please, I like my freedom. Kthxbye" or just "Bitch please. We value freedom." because God knows, that's one thing we'll be losing if we become a part of the "mainland".
So I was bored and felt like playing around with Photoshop. Results! Although it wasn't that much time spent making them, I feel like they get the point across .... :P (It was a good stress reliever)
And in the spirit of the lolcats ...
You never realize which keys on the keyboard you use a lot until it goes missing. I miss my "tab" key. It fell off randomly the other day. I DON'T KNOW WHY! And I'm too lazy to go to an Apple reseller to get it put back on because I might as well just check in the whole computer to get fixed (I have fan and logic board issues too). I'm also too lazy to back up my data (bad! bad! must! back! up! reminds me of this... teehee!) My poor macbook pro. Not even three years old and it's falling apart already. Well, maybe that's a good thing. I can take advantage of my Apple Care which I only paid 200 usd for! Proud of myself. Thank God I have friends who are cheap and would rather make money than warrantify their laptop. PHEW! I must say, though, this extended warranty has been well worth the money - fixed my fan, replaced my screen, fixed the isight ... and coming up is fixing the logic board, which normally costs hundreds of dollars if the comp's outta warranty. Nothing makes me happier than money well spent. :P
Anyway, IT'S SO HOT. Yes, I finally get to the point. I don't know what the temperature is, but it's humid and hot and ICKY. I miss dry hot summers. So Cal, why did I leave you? Well, it's not like I ever really spent a summer there, though. Always traveled back to Asia or Canada during my four years in UCLA. Maybe I wouldn't enjoy hot dry summers in LA. But now I'll never know! Unless I move there! Ha!
This is a random entry.
Who uses Twitter?! Out of all the gazillion friends I have (I wish), I only have one friend who uses it. And he just recently got it. And the last time he updated was four days ago. What's the point of following him if he doesn't update?! No point I say. So! Who else has got Twitter that I can follow?
Anybody else use Digg.com? I love it. Lots of good entertaining articles that people digg, although you kinda have to sort through them, but hey, when you've got nothing else to do, it's a good time killer.
I'm stressed. Tomorrow's THE DAY I tell the colleague who hired me and got me the full time posish ... I am afraid. Why? Because I feel guilty! Ahhhhh. I don't want to talk about it (even though I brought it up. ha!)
My cousin's getting married this Saturday. Yay.
This entry has become filled with my random train of thoughts.
I'm so tired. Mentally. Physically. Stressing is just bad for your whole system. Cortisol levels are HIGH! Immune system is LOW! Woo! Psych has actually taught me something!
Ok, I shall leave before I say something inappropriate.
OOOO. Speaking of which, funny (sick?) thought I came up with during a convo I had with my friend today (requires knowledge of Mandarin).
Me: it's ok, he can be your gan弟弟 (little brother)
...
Me: gan as in first sound gan(乾), not fourth sound gan(幹).
HAHA. Ok, the only reason why I thought of that was because when I used pinyin to type gan, the Chinese character it gave me first was fourth sound gan (which basically means f*ck!) when I actually wanted the first sound gan (where gan di di means God brother, kinda). So. yah. It was also funny 'cause the guy we were talking about is 17 years old. ooooo. So bad. :P
A little window into my weird little mind.
Yup, things are definitely increasing now. A couple of days ago we hear that gas prices are going to increase starting June 2nd, and the electricity prices are going to increase in July. Tonight, while eating dinner at the aunt's house, we hear that actually, the gas prices are going to increase starting at 12 am tonight. The increase is around 3.9 (for 92) NT, but this isn't the end. Oh no, the next increase in gas prices is going to be in July (yay! a one month delay! oh wait, no, it's one month earlier ...=.=).
Watching the news right now, it seems like no one (well, except those who decided to raise the damn price) knew about this sudden increase because the chief of economic affairs had stated that the rise in price was going to occur in June. Everyone was preparing for that June increase. However, people didn't even hear about this new increase until they got off work today, even the gas stations themselves. Where the hell did this gas increase come from? Dropped from the "heavens," and because what they say is "truth," everyone just has to deal with it.
If this is the way the new government is going to be doing things, then our country is in for one big ... fun ... four (eight? God forbid) years. Lack of communication within the government officials and entities? Who knows, but this, this really isn't the way they want to start off their governance, pissing people off with the sudden gas increase. People getting off work, tired, and just wanting to go home to relax and eat dinner suddenly hear about this price increase, and now they have to go and fill up their tanks. This causes gas stations to explode with people, but they're not ready for it because they didn't think it would be happening today. They thought they still had a month to stock up and deal with people who want to get the gas before the price increase. Well, at least, Yah! INCREASE! He certainly kept his word on something.
Anyway, so because we heard the gas prices were increasing at 12am, we decided to fill up my cousin's motorcycle. Got some nice pictures of the motorcycles lining up to get gas. Thankfully the station we went to was alright in terms of the line. On our way home, we saw another station with 10x more people - not just motorcycles, but cars too. It was crazy! There were even cops out making sure people lined up and didn't get in the way of other traffic. Geez!
I wonder how many angry people are out there tonight.
(Sorry if this post is jumping all over the place and not flowing ... watching the news while trying to think is far more difficult than I expected :P Will edit it later, maybe)

Meh, I hate how the day after clubbing my voice always drops an octave. Ok, that's an exaggeration, but I do sound even more like a man. Too much screaming along with songs I guess.
Anyway, so we went to Room 18 because one of our friends from HK was visiting for the weekend, and he'd gotten a table there. Going there this time just reinforced my dislike of Room 18 (when compared to Luxy). When we got there, there was no line if you were buying a ticket to get in, but there was a freaking long line if you had a reservation. Eh what? Then what's the point of the reservation if you still have to wait in line? Opposite of Luxy. The last time we had a table there, there was no line for the table, but there was a line if you were buying a ticket to get in. That makes more sense, right? I think so.
Then there's the music. I remember the last time we went we didn't have as much fun because the music kinda .. sucked. This time it improved a littttle bit, but still not that great. Definitely prefer the music at Luxy even though a lot of it is repetitive (well, it would be if you went there three times in a month, I guess). At least they played Prince and Guns and Roses and ... yah, not just hip hop the whole night through.
And lastly, the space at Room 18 is just way too small and cramped (in the hip hop room). I don't mind it being a little bit squishy because that just gives it more of a clubbing feel, but with so many bodies packed together it just got way too hot. Towards the end I was itching because my allergy to sweat was acting up. That shows how much I sweated, right? And I was wearing a halter with my hair tied up! Iono, never had a problem like that at Luxy. I think it's because the ceiling at Room 18 is so low, so that gives it an even cramper feel. Blech.
The only good thing about Room 18, though, is that when you have a table, they give you Grey Goose! Yum. Grey Goose is probably the only vodka I like and can take shots with without feeling like throwing up. :P So, drank a lot of that last night.
Besides all the negative things about Room 18, it was still a decent and fun night. I mean, clubbing is about dancing right? For me at least. Although my goal of getting smashed wasn't really achieved, I still got drunk enough that I fell on my butt when trying to get down the stairs to the dance floor. Embarrassing. Thank God I wasn't sober enough to really feel the embarrassment. It was good to see Watson and actually see him dance. He's such a good dancer!! Sigh. 超會扭的! But next time, it's either going to be Luxy or another new club that we haven't been to (Plush or Primo). I don't really think I want to go to Room 18 anymore. It's also a lot farther from our apartment.
This ... worries me. I first read about it from michaelturton.blogspot.com.
Choice quotations:
Many citizens may be unaware that almost immediately after taking power from the Democratic Progressive Party administration of former president Chen Shui-bian Tuesday, the term "Taiwan" was purged from the Chinese language header of the homepage of the "Office of the President of the Republic of China (Taiwan)." (Upon looking it up, the Taiwan is actually still on the website. Not sure if it was taken off and then put back on or it was a mistake in the article.)
Moreover, one of the first actions by new KMT Defence Minister Chao Chao-min upon assuming his post was to similarly expunge the phrase "Taiwan" from the front page of the Ministry of National Defence - owned "Youth Daily News" and to change its banner lead slogan from "fighting for Taiwan's survival" to "fighting for the Republic of China and fighting for the security of the people on Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu."
In addition, the official stamp commemorating the inaugural of President Ma and Vice President Vincent Siew on May 20 also made no mention of Taiwan in Chinese.
and this ...
It is expected that the KMT government would move quickly to realize its campaign program and move to improve relations with the PRC, but the Ma administration should not simply naively look at the positive side and neglect the possible risks.
If the KMT government is unable to maintain an objective and cool mentality to examine the present and future interaction between the two sides and negate Taiwan`s ideological pluralism for the sake of currying favor with Beijing, more and more citizens will worry about possible grave negative side-effects from liberalization of cross-strait ties.
And lastly, this puts the worries into words:
Such actions gives rise to serious concern over whether President Ma has sufficient wisdom and resolution to resist ultraconservative forces in his own party and pressure from Beijing for faster movements toward "ultimate unification" and spark doubt whether Ma's claims of "ove [sic] for Taiwan" and commitment for Taiwan's democracy were merely exercises in campaign rhetoric to be forgotten after the KMT has "won back Taiwan."
I don't understand why the media had to focus on the new first lady's attire yesterday. Not just the first lady, though, but also other females in the new president's family. Why? Why the need? Why the need to talk about stupid things like that on the news? Aren't there more important things to focus on and let the public know besides what the first lady is wearing? Bombs are going off all over the world, there's been a devastating earthquake in China, children are starving, etc., yet the Taiwanese media chose to focus on the first lady's dress?
OOOOO, she wore a skirt! Instead of her normal slacks! And it's a green skirt! Oh MY GOD. That's gotta go on the news. So shocking ...... =.= Oh, nevermind that there's violence in South Africa and people are fleeing or that another survivor had be found in China ... The first lady's dress is DEFINITELY more newsworthy.
Seriously? SERIOUSLY?!
And on further thought, why not focus on the men's clothing choices? He's the new president. His image is more important, I would say, than his wife who probably (hopefully) has no sway in public policy and international relations.
So why this focus on what she decided to wear to her husband's inauguration?! Someone want to explain to me the 無聊ness of the Taiwanese media? *Smacks forehead*
Ugh, sometimes, well, a lot of the times, the Taiwanese media baffles and annoys me.
I've been meaning to update, I swear! It's just that my lunch time updates got interrupted by my Google Reader calling me to read the RSS feeds I've subscribed to. I haven't had the chance to read for a couple of day, so there were 1000+ entries to catch up on. I'm down to 800-some. :P So behind on the news. I'm like living three days in the past. TEEHEE.
Anyway, ever been on a motorcycle in the pouring rain? I have. And it's not fun. My shoes got soaked, and they're still wet. It's been four days. May is rainy season in Taiwan, so I guess I'll have to get used to having wet feet at work for a while. =( I hate rain. It makes everything less convenient and makes me gloomy and depressed. I wonder if I have SAD. Well, not like it affects me living my life, so I guess it's not a disorder yet.
Having problems sleeping at night because I feel so guilty that I have to quit work already when I haven't even been here for a year. >.< Ahhhhhh. I feel like such a bad person. As usual, I wish I didn't have a conscience. Then I could just live my life not caring about what other people think. Although there are probably lots of negatives to not having a conscience, some times I think having too much of a conscience is a bad thing. It hinders you from getting a good night's sleep ... a lot. But I have this opportunity to go out and study masters, so I should take it, right? And this job isn't what I want to spend the rest of my life doing, right? So I should just take what I'm given and go with it, right? RIGHT?!
Argh, I never know if I'm doing the right thing, or if i'll end up regretting the decisions I make. I hate this unknowingness ... It makes me unsettled, and I'd much rather like to be settled.
On another note, I have a needle hole in my arm (drugs! jk) from my health checkup today. They had to suck some blood outta me. >.< I hate needles. I hate I hate. At least I now know I am 159 cm. Just one cm away from 160. AHHHH. so close, yet so far. :P
