I Thought I Could Do It

I was trying to lay off ranting about Taiwanese politics here. It lasted about six entries, which I guess is not THAT bad. But after a frustrating dinner listening to the news and how our MR. Ma is debasing himself to the "Mainland," I can't take it anymore. I need to rant. I need to let it out. So here goes. Feel free to skip.

WHY would you agree to allow someone call you Mr. Ma instead of President Ma? Only because he's from China, right? And we don't want to piss of the great Chinese country, right? I mean, I'm sure if any other foreign dignitary decided to grace us with their presence, you'd also agree that they should call you Mr. Ma because that's more equal even though you're the frickin president of a frickin country (and he's not). Oh wait, or is it because you don't think you are the president of a democratic country, hmmm? You're just a regular joe schmoe that the people elected to make this country a better place suck up and kiss ass to the Chinese. Do you think any other president of a democratic country would suggest that he be called MISTER rather than president? Have a little pride in your country, wouldja?

And what have you been doing, MR. Ma? How come we haven't seen or heard much from you since 5/20? I thought you liked to be the center of attention. I thought you liked being in the news with everyone fawning over you. Oh we've heard plenty from your party in general, especially in relation to the ship incident with Japan. Oh but that's ok, the scapegoat's been found (main official to Japan). Despite the fact that he's the one that got us the chance to enter Japan without needing a visa, it doesn't matter, we'll just put all the blame on him anyway. Oh, and what was that intelligent bit by our premier that going to war would be a last option (but hey, an option nevertheless!)? OF COURSE! We totally elected your party to go to war not with China, but with a different country (one which the US is obliged to help in case it does go to war). Mmmmmm, you guys are totally living up to our expectations.

But hey, where've you been Mr. Ma? How come we've barely heard a peep from you besides the little tea you had with the reporters (where you stupidly smartly offered that sound bite of being called mister rather than president), despite the rising prices of everything and the flooding in the south and just general funness in the life of the Taiwanese? Hmm?

Moving on (there's only so much to say in relation to Mr. Ma with all his presence in the media), what is it with those Hong Kong people coming to Taiwan to help protest the way the Japanese treated the Taiwanese fishing boat? I mean, it could've been a good thing until they started stating that the disputed islands belong to China? Wait what? If you believe that they're part of China, why aren't you protesting in CHINA? Oh wait what? Because you'd probably get your asses kicked or thrown in jail? And yet, you have the balls to tell the Taiwanese police officers that they're infringing on your human rights? Man, you guys are so ... I don't even know what the word is.

One last issue. Ugh, I'm so mad I can't even remember what the last issue was. OH! Jackie Chan. WHAT are you doing in Taiwan? Why are you here? You had the gall to say that what happened four years ago on 3/21 (shooting incident) was a joke and that there are all these other countries that you can visit and Taiwan would just be one less country. Great. So you're saying we're insignificant, but now you're here?! WHY ARE YOU HERE?! We're a joke, remember? Go away stupid Jackie Chan.
